Join The Carnegie for an experimental performance from cellist Nora Barton, who will respond to the themes and works of All Four Seasons in Equal Measure with ethereal scores.
All Four Seasons in Equal Measure brings together six artists, all of whom live and work in Kentucky, whose works highlight their intimate relationship with place and the natural world. Their creative output celebrates the beauty of the environment and demonstrates their concern for its precarities through painting, works on paper, sculpture, video, and installation.
The exhibition continues on the second floor along with an activation that points to the history of this building as a library. A transitory space at the top of the rear stairs has been transformed into a reading room, populated with books recommended by the artists and copies of Walden.
All Four Seasons in Equal Measure was curated by guest curator Monique Long in collaboration with The Carnegie.
Cellist Nora Barton recently returned to Kentucky after living in Chicago where she performed in symphonies, rock bands, avant-garde ensembles, theater productions, and more, for 15 years. Back in KY, she continues to cultivate collaborative projects that explore the transformative power of sound and music. In addition to accompanying yoga classes and hosting ambient noise jams, Nora regularly performs under the name Planchette, bringing ethereal cello textures to new spaces and communities. She also began working with the Arts in Healing team, playing for patients and their families at Hospice of Cincinnati and UC Medical center.
