Under Keïta’s tutelage, she learned traditional rhythms of the Mandingue people, performing before the great Famoudou Konaté, National Ballet Djoliba. She would also perform before the community of Matoto, drumming before thousands at the Abéné, Senegal Cultural Festival and the National Theater in Oaxaca, Mexico. Upon returning to Cincinnati in 2016, Tanya joined the Rhythm Sisters with “Suits” member Shari Lauter, continues to perform, accompanies African dance classes and teaches African Drum workshops for the Hive Center for Contemplation and Political Action in Cincinnati. She also offers djembe classes and workshops for children and adults. Tanya is thrilled to join the “Suits that Rock!”
