RESIDUE

June 17–October 2, 2021

Curated by Maria Seda-Reeder

RESIDUE, guest curated by Maria Seda-Reeder, features twelve artists that represent this region alongside artists working across the United States.

RESIDUE considers the relationship between art and audience — and how that engagement intertwines with, and changes, the work. While artists act to create objects and images for us to experience, audiences co-create meaning through the lens of our lived, visceral encounters with it—and that resulting residue created within the viewer likewise becomes part of the work’s resulting meaning.

Artists featured in RESIDUE include: Laura Aguilar (Long Beach, CA); Batres/Gilvin (Morning View, KY); Latausha Cox (Cincinnati, OH); Sea Dax (Cincinnati); Aaron Delamatre (Cincinnati); EMPIRE CITIZENS (Latonia); Nona Faustine (Brooklyn); David Hammonds (Los Angeles); Clarity Haynes (New York City); Maggie Lawson, (Cincinnati); Liam Ze’ev O’Connor (Oakland); and Clint Woods (Cincinnati).
